Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before, during, and after your floor sanding job.

Before Your Job

How long does floor sanding take?

Most rooms take 1-2 days for sanding plus 1-2 days for coats to cure. The team'll give you an exact timeline after inspecting your floors.

Do I need to leave the house?

For water-based finishes, you can usually stay. The smell is minimal and the cure time is fast. The team will advise based on your situation.

Do I need to move my furniture?

I handle furniture moving as part of the job. Just clear personal items and fragile objects.

What about the fridge or heavy appliances?

I can work around fixed appliances. Fridges, dishwashers and pianos can be shimmed or worked around -- The team'll assess what makes sense on site.

Should I paint before or after floor sanding?

Sand first, then paint. Sanding dust settles on everything, so it makes sense to do the messy work first. If you've already painted, we'll mask and protect.

How long before I can walk on the floor?

Water-based: light foot traffic (socks only) after 2-4 hours. Solvent-based: 24 hours minimum. Full cure takes 7-14 days.

What timber species do you sand?

I sand all Australian hardwoods -- Spotted Gum, Blackbutt, Tallowwood, Ironbark, Brushbox, and more. Also engineered timber, parquet, and pine.

How dusty is it?

I use dust extraction on every machine. It's not dust-free, but it's minimal. I'll seal off rooms and clean up daily.

What areas do you cover?

I're based in Toronto and cover Australia and surrounding suburbs.

Do you use subcontractors?

No. The team do every job personally. No handoffs, no strangers in your home.

How do I get a quote?

Call 1300 950 551 or use the contact form. The team'll come out, look at the floors, and give you a fixed price on the spot. No charge, no obligation.

Care & Maintenance

How do I clean my newly sanded floors?

Sweep or vacuum regularly with a soft floor attachment. Damp mop when needed -- never wet mop. That's it.

What cleaning products should I use?

Use a pH-neutral timber floor cleaner like Bona Clean. Never vinegar, bleach, or steam mops.

When can I put rugs down?

Wait 2-4 weeks after the final coat. Use rugs with breathable backing only -- rubber-backed rugs trap moisture and can damage the finish.

How do I prevent scratches?

Felt pads on all furniture legs. No dragging. Door mats at entries. Trim pet nails. Common sense goes a long way.

What about high heels?

A stiletto heel concentrates your entire body weight onto an area smaller than a pencil tip -- that's around 2,000 PSI. Enough to dent any timber. Shoes off or flat soles indoors.

How often do floors need re-coating?

Residential: every 7-10 years typically. High traffic or commercial: sooner. A recoat is much cheaper than a full sand -- it's a light buff and one new coat.
